Balanced Scorecard / Dynamic Scorecard

A Balanced Scorecard is a performance management tool in which a set of measures are developed to indicate how well an organization is performing.

Typical Balanced Scorecards look at an organization from four perspectives: customer, financial, internal, and innovation. The goal of a Balanced Scorecard is an organization that performs well in all four areas.

The Balanced Scorecard approach is powerful for several reasons. For organizations that have never done so, it forces them to put in writing their goals and objectives, and then write what their strategy is for reaching those goals. This strategy is then translated into measurable outcomes that are tracked via the organization’s Balanced Scorecard. These scorecards simultaneously communicate to shareholders, customers and employees what the goals of the organization are, how it intends to meet those goals, and how well it is doing in meeting them.
